Providing Naturopathic Medicine in Oakville

At Bronte Wellness, naturopathic medicine in Oakville is focused on treating the underlying cause of disease rather than merely the symptoms, so you can achieve and maintain optimal health. Our Naturopathic Doctors emphasize health promotion and disease prevention instead of only treating problems after they appear and prescribing medications to mask symptoms. As an Oakville naturopathic clinic, our approach is individualized healthcare with a commitment to treating the whole person. That means taking the time to learn about you and building an effective, personalized treatment plan. Our female naturopathic physicians complete thorough initial consultations, discuss your previous health history, perform physical assessments, and order lab testing when needed.

What Is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is a system of primary health care that blends the knowledge of modern science with traditional, natural therapies. Rather than relying solely on prescription medications — which can carry side effects that lead to further issues — naturopathic medicine focuses on lifestyle, long-term health promotion and disease prevention using effective natural treatments. The aim is to support your body’s inherent ability to restore and maintain its own optimal health. At our Oakville clinic, naturopathic care is delivered as part of a multidisciplinary team, so your plan can be coordinated with massage therapy, acupuncture, IV vitamin therapy, counselling and nutrition when appropriate.

What Does a Naturopathic Doctor in Oakville Do?

Naturopathic Doctors provide individualized, evidence-informed therapies that balance the least harmful and most effective approaches to help facilitate your body’s natural healing. A naturopathic treatment plan may include custom nutrition plans, supplements, physical medicine and lifestyle counselling, as well as botanical medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture and homeopathy.

In Oakville and across Ontario, Naturopathic Doctors can serve as primary health providers. This means they can perform physical exams, order lab tests, diagnose health issues and provide treatment. They also complement and enhance the services provided by other healthcare professionals, and in some cases can even order more specialized testing than family doctors due to different regulations. The result is a truly integrative form of healthcare designed around your overall needs — whether you are managing hormones, fatigue, digestion, stress or a chronic concern.

Why Visit a Naturopathic Clinic?

Naturopathic clinics are valuable within any community because they offer a more varied and customized approach to overall health care and preventative medicine. Much of modern medicine does not address or treat the root cause of health issues, or focus on future health, partly because conventional doctors are limited in their treatment and prescription options. For example, many menopausal women experiencing hormonal change are simply prescribed anti-depressants to ease their symptoms.
A naturopathic clinic can help patients who have previously been unable to resolve their health concerns, can work to address the root cause of many health issues, and can provide patients who already have a diagnosis with additional treatment alternatives. At Bronte Wellness, our naturopathic clinic in Oakville pairs this root-cause philosophy with on-site lab testing, IV therapy, acupuncture, massage, counselling and nutrition, so your care is comprehensive and connected.

Common Misconceptions About Naturopathic Doctors & Clinics

Naturopathic Doctors focus on evidence-based medicine using a variety of proven naturopathic therapies. In Ontario, Naturopathic Doctors are granted the title of “Doctor,” are licensed primary healthcare providers and are highly regulated, just like any other doctor. It is also important to know that a homeopath is not the same as a naturopath. Homeopathy is one form of treatment used within naturopathic medicine, backed by a two-year program of study, whereas Naturopathic Doctors complete 7–8 years of education in order to practise. When you visit our Oakville naturopathic clinic, you are seeing a regulated, licensed Naturopathic Doctor.

Naturopathic Treatments We Offer in Oakville

  • As a multidisciplinary clinic, our Naturopathic Doctors draw on a full toolkit of natural therapies, and can coordinate with the rest of our team:• Clinical nutrition & custom diet plans to address deficiencies and support healing
    • Botanical (herbal) medicine and high-quality supplements, available through our online naturopathic store
    • Bioidentical hormone therapy for hormone-related concerns such as menopause and PMS
    • IV vitamin therapy and vitamin injections for energy, recovery and nutrient support
    • Acupuncture and cosmetic (facial) acupuncture
    • Lab and diagnostic testing, including hormone, thyroid and food-sensitivity testing
    • Lifestyle counselling and stress management, supported by our psychotherapists
Every plan begins with a thorough consultation and, where helpful, lab testing, so your treatment is tailored to your goals.

What to Expect at Your First Naturopathic Appointment in Oakville

Your first visit with a Naturopathic Doctor at our Oakville clinic is unhurried and thorough. Your naturopath completes a detailed initial consultation, discusses your previous health history, and performs physical assessments. When it adds value to your care, they will order lab testing — and because Naturopathic Doctors in Ontario can in some cases order more specialized testing than family doctors, they may review or build on bloodwork you already have to avoid duplication. From there, you receive an individualized treatment plan that may combine nutrition, botanical medicine, acupuncture, lifestyle counselling and, where appropriate, referrals within our multidisciplinary team. The focus throughout is the whole person and the root cause, not just the symptom in front of us.

I practice with a strong focus on whole-person care, addressing not only the physical, but also the mental and emotional aspects of health. Through thoughtful conversation and targeted testing, I work to identify the ‘why’ behind your health concerns. I believe in working collaboratively with patients to uncover the root causes of their symptoms and to create personalized, evidence-informed plans that are practical and sustainable. My goal is to empower individuals to take charge of their health journey, no matter where they’re starting from.

Although devoted to aiding patients on any health journey with any health concerns, I have particular interests in digestive health, histamine intolerance, mast activation syndrome and fibromyalgia. Additionally, I have a passion for women’s health, which led me to obtain a certification in pelvic floor therapy. Through this certification, I developed an interest in treating urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, and post-pregnancy care.

Beyond the clinic, you can find me enjoying one of my many hobbies such as reading, doing a puzzle, or going to the gym. I love being outside, whether that’s going for a long walk or planting a vegetable garden. My favourite thing to do is to laugh with my loved ones while trying something new!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Naturopathic Medicine Covered by Insurance?

Many extended health benefit plans include coverage for Naturopathic Doctor visits. Coverage amounts vary depending on your individual plan, so we recommend checking with your insurance provider for details. We provide receipts that can be submitted for reimbursement.

Can a Naturopath Order Bloodwork?

Yes. Naturopathic Doctors in Ontario can order a variety of laboratory tests that may help assess factors such as hormones, thyroid function, nutrient status, blood sugar regulation, cardiovascular health, and more. Your practitioner will recommend testing only when appropriate and based on your individual health concerns and goals.

Can a Naturopath Prescribe Hormones?

Naturopathic Doctors in Ontario can prescribe certain hormones, including bioidentical hormone therapies, when clinically appropriate and within their scope of practice. If you’re experiencing symptoms of perimenopause, menopause, hormone imbalance, or thyroid dysfunction, we can discuss whether hormone therapy may be a suitable option for you.

Do I Need a Referral?

No referral is required to see a Naturopathic Doctor. You can book directly with our team at any time. If you’re not sure where to start, we also offer a complimentary Meet & Greet to help you determine the best practitioner and treatment approach for your needs.

What If I’m Already Taking Medication?

That’s completely okay. Many of our patients are currently taking prescription medications and work with us alongside their family physician or specialist. We take a collaborative approach to care and will consider your current medications, health history, and treatment goals when developing your personalized plan.

Can You Help With Perimenopause and Menopause?

Absolutely. Supporting women through perimenopause and menopause is one of our primary areas of focus at Bronte Wellness.

Whether you’re struggling with weight gain, fatigue, brain fog, poor sleep, mood changes, anxiety, hot flashes, night sweats, or simply don’t feel like yourself anymore, our team can help identify contributing factors and create a personalized plan to support your health during this transition.

Do You Offer Virtual Appointments?

Yes. Virtual naturopathic appointments are available for many concerns, allowing you to access care from the comfort of your home. Virtual visits are a convenient option for busy schedules, follow-up appointments, hormone consultations, and ongoing health support.

If you’re unsure whether your concern is suitable for virtual care, our team would be happy to help guide you.

What Happens During My First Appointment?

Your initial visit is designed to give us a comprehensive understanding of your health. We’ll review your health history, current symptoms, lifestyle factors, medications, and goals. From there, your Naturopathic Doctor will develop a personalized plan that may include nutrition, lifestyle recommendations, supplementation, laboratory testing, acupuncture, IV therapy, or hormone support depending on your needs.

How Many Appointments Will I Need?

Every patient is different. Some concerns may improve with only a few visits, while more complex issues such as hormone imbalances, menopause symptoms, digestive concerns, or metabolic health often benefit from ongoing support. Your practitioner will discuss realistic timelines and recommendations based on your individual goals.

What does a naturopathic doctor treat?

Naturopathic Doctors help with a wide range of concerns — including hormone imbalances, menopause, PMS and PMDD, thyroid conditions, digestion and food sensitivities, fertility support, anxiety, stress, fatigue, weight management and more — by identifying and treating the root cause.

Are naturopathic doctors covered by OHIP?

No. Naturopathic care is not covered by OHIP, but it is frequently covered by extended health and workplace benefit plans. We provide receipts for insurance reimbursement.

How much does it cost to see a naturopathic doctor in Ontario?

Initial naturopathic consultations in Ontario generally range from roughly $150 to $300, with follow-up visits typically costing less. Contact our Oakville clinic for current fees and what your benefits may cover.

Is a naturopath a real doctor?

Yes — in Ontario, Naturopathic Doctors are licensed, regulated primary health care providers who hold the title “Doctor” and complete 7–8 years of education.

Do I need a referral to see a naturopath in Oakville?

No referral is needed. You can book a naturopathic appointment directly, with evening and weekend times available.
