Do your clothes not fit like they used to? Experiencing hot flashes? Feeling more emotional? Like many women in their 40s, you may be going through perimenopause or menopause.

As hormones fluctuate leading up to and beyond a woman’s last period, a host of symptoms are possible. Period irregularity, loss of libido, vaginal dryness, hot flashes or night sweats can begin to arise. As hormones levels decline, metabolism slows, bone loss and the risk of osteoporosis increases, as does the risk of heart disease and dementia. Without proper hormone replacement, skin loses its youthful elasticity and the body ages faster.

The good news is that you don’t have to suffer. Bioidentical estrogen and progesterone can be used to prevent that dramatic drop in hormones that are associated with typical menopausal symptoms. Sadly, there is a misconception that hormone replacement therapy should be avoided because it dramatically increases the risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease. This comes from a poor interpretation of the Women’s Health Initiative Study that Premarin, an estrogen derived from pregnant horses, and Provera, a synthetic form of progesterone, were shown to raise cancer risks.[/fusion_text][imageframe lightbox=”no” gallery_id=”” lightbox_image=”” style_type=”glow” hover_type=”zoomin” bordercolor=”#6b5e5d” bordersize=”1px” borderradius=”1″ stylecolor=”” align=”center” link=”” linktarget=”_self” animation_type=”0″ animation_direction=”down” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” hide_on_mobile=”no” class=”” id=””] [/imageframe][fusion_text]A French study that used bioidentical progesterone, instead of Premarin, actually showed a minimal breast cancer risk. The same study also showed that bioidentical estrogen at mid- to low-doses doesn’t escalate cancer risk either, but actually reduces the risk of heart disease, osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s.

Women who use bioidentical hormones can experience a reduction in hot flashes/night sweats, thus improving sleep quality, increasing metabolism, stabilizing moods and increasing energy. If you start using bioidentical hormones within 10 years of the onset of menopause, you can also prevent heart disease, osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s.
